Application Employment

Although many of the techniques for a moving job are repetitive in nature, no two moving or packing jobs are the same. The following are basic qualifications each member of the Field Crew must be able to fulfill in order to be eligible for employment with us.

Qualifications for Field Crew Applicants (Helpers, Drivers, and Foremen):

Must be physically fit. This means you must be able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds frequently or constantly over the course of an 8 -­‐hour or longer shift, either with or without the aid of appropriate moving equipment; must be able to climb stairs while carrying a heavy load throughout the course of an 8-­‐hour or longer shift; must be able to lift, bend, kneel, and stoop repeatedly throughout an 8-hour or longer shift; must have good balance and coordination.

Must have strong listening and comprehension skills: This means that you must be able to quickly grasp and respond to directions given to you on the job, without unnecessarily disrupting the steady and professional flow of work.

Must be able to speak, read and comprehend the English language sufficiently to read and successfully complete our training manuals and communicate respectfully and professionally with coworkers, customers and supervisors. Must attend all scheduled training sessions, on time, and ready to learn. (Note: training is paid time.)

Must be honest. No lying, no stealing, no cheating, no talking about other staff behind their backs, particularly if it’s likely to leave a negative impression in the mind of the person you’re speaking with.

Must be efficient and organized. This means that you must keep busy while on the job. Show initiative and maintain your productivity. No standing around while others are moving.

Must not smoke, chit-­‐chat, or become distracted while on the job.

Must be able to stay on each job from beginning to end unless an emergency pulls you away (in which case, you must get permission to leave from the President, Vice President, Operations Manager or Office Manager).

Must report on-­‐time when scheduled to work (or to train). In other words, be reliable.

Must not take a smoke (or other) break unless the Foreman has called a break.

You must maintain an appropriate and professional appearance on the job. This means that you must dress neatly. You may not have visible tattoos which contain obscenities, profanities, vulgarity, or pornography, nor can you wear facial jewelry, or other cosmetic body modifications. (You may be able to cover piercings, tattoos or other body modifications if doing so allows you to make a neat and tidy, professional appearance).
